Sahara Sketch

Well, finally here I am with the Sahara sketch I promised.  It is difficult to create a sketch that has the "feel" of the finished design.  I have sketches of stitches I plan to use and this is where I plan to place them.  But sometimes it becomes necessary to move things around, not to mention threads and beads, etc.

If you are comparing what was previously shown and what has been filled in, you might notice the small squares at the bottom.  The new squares are Tila beads, not stitches.  And you can see there will be some solid areas of stitching as well as mixed areas.  But the biggest difference is there is more color now, with more now.

I plan to get back to stitching it in early March and am looking forward to it.  I received some threads in the mail today, in just the right colors, and am anxious to try them out!

Happy stitching...........

Finally Moved and SAHARA

The last box was unloaded at our new home on December 6th.  We are slowly making our way through the boxes.   The family Christmas celebration was at our house this year so we had to clear enough space for the tree and dinner table.  The Christmas boxes (ornaments, stockings, etc.) were finally uncovered on Christmas, but we had already had fun looking for new ornaments....and everyone got a tote bag this year, instead of a stocking!

But the studio is beginning to take shape now and I actually have a few workspaces (and lights) set up.  And my stitching light and frame has finally been located.  So I'm back in business and back to stitching.

Above is a new design....in progress.....Sahara.  I will be adding a few square and tubular beads in the next few days and then putting it aside for about 6 weeks, as I need to work on another proposal design.  Sahara, again, includes the use of Copic markers in another layered technique.  There will be both solid and open areas in the remaining rectangles.

Part of the inspiration for this design comes from the "blue people" of the Sahara: The Taureg and their jewelry while the colors and undulating sand dunes of the Sahara provides the rest.  (When looking at the scan below, please be aware the scanning area was just a little too small so the left side is cut off a little.....the design is actually square!)

I plan to post a finished "sketch" next week.

Happy New Years!

Terry

Taking a break to move

Well, it's getting close to the ANG seminar in Columbus.  I will arrive late this Thursday evening and will be there until the following Saturday afternoon.  So if you are also attending, have a great time, and I look forward to seeing many of you!

Upon my return from seminar, interspersed with the "normal" I must begin packing for our move.  Yes, it is finally near....we have been talking about it forever (it seems)!  We are scheduled to close escrow on Monday.  Don't want to say more until it is officially "done"!  But we are planning to move around December, so.......I won't be able to fill orders from November 1st until January 1s (possibly the 15th).  We have lived in our current house for 22 years, so we're certainly not looking forward to the moving part!

I am working on a new design, just picking threads, beads and markers now, and will begin stitching upon my return, so some photos will follow around the end of October.

Wishing everyone a great month!
